Your tasks

Our Adapted Upper Secondary School (AGY) currently consists of 14 students, distributed across 4 grades. As a vocational teacher in construction, you will be part of a team linked to our AGY education and you will teach courses such as Property Management, Cleaning, and Construction Knowledge, often together with a colleague. Since Workplace-Based Learning (APL) is included in the vocational courses, the task of finding suitable APL placements for our students is also part of the role. Mentorship is also included in the position.

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a great curiosity about the students you meet, a positive view of students, and a belief in each student's ability to develop and achieve their goals, even if the path to those goals may be winding. You are a reliable adult who has a good ability to create trusting relationships, values diversity, and understands that background, culture, and group affiliation can affect individuals. You should have a genuine interest in young people's situations, be responsive to the needs of different students, and have the ability to adapt your working methods to the target group. You are open to developing and trying new teaching methods.

You have a secondary education and experience working in the construction industry. You also have experience in pedagogical work within the upper secondary school's construction program. If you have a teaching license with a focus on vocational subjects in upper secondary school or experience working in an adapted upper secondary school, it is a plus.

Hahrska Gymnasiet is part of Västerås city's school activities and is centrally located, just a few minutes from the station. The school is led by a principal and a vice principal, and around 50 dedicated teachers work here together with a complete student health team.

Other information

We review applications continuously during the advertising period.

Start date by agreement, but no later than August 10. It is desirable that you have the time and opportunity for a good handover from our current teacher who is retiring in the fall.

Before you can be employed, you need to present a valid extract from the police's criminal record.

In connection with the interview, you need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a certificate of citizenship along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit.
